 Electric piano is the next sound Bank over [Music] [Music] so it sounds like harpsichord to me I mean it's it's kind of whatever. The only music I listen to the harpsichord is some Vampire Weekend tracks but synth I think is actually the worst sound on this instrument I think it just sounds outdated and terrible unless you want to play that like one song. this the strings. The only caveat is like playing from notes playing like consecutive notes

 like the low octave sounds really tight and the high just sounds like really delicate and nice which is what I like the most about it. I Love playing stuff like up here like [Music] it just sounds like super nice like some keyboards I've heard at this price they kind of get like shrill and like kind of piercing your ear like that high. but I really think it's a very nice piano sound and the one of the coolest parts is the reverb. Suggestion for first piano keyboard in South Africa (no Amazon)

 There is really no excuse to not include the staples Rhodes, Williser, and Dx7 sounds in the Recital Pro. The second thing I didn't like about this piano when I opened up the box is that there is no sustain pedal included in the box. not even a cheap little square plastic pedal. A damper pedal is essential for piano playing, and not including one in the box is just an unnecessary oversight

 [Music] Another feather in the cab for the Laces Recital Pro is that it can be powered via either an electrical outlet or with batteries. The sensible design, reasonable weight, convenient buttons, quarter inch line outputs coupled with battery operation means this piano is great for basking small gigs. and if you need to move the piano to different rooms in your home where necessary now, nothing is perfect and the Laces Recital Pro isn't Here are four things I don't really like about it, and let's hope someone in Oasis watches this video and improves on it. [Music] For a digital piano, especially one that's portable and has great potential to gig with, I expected more than a single electric piano sound

What Makes Alesis Recital Pro So Popular? What's Special About It?

I bought this as a beginner/learner and didn't want to spend a fortune plus wanted fully weighted keys in order to simulate a pedal piano about 2 months ago. I looked at the keyboard within the price range I wanted. My final choice was between this keyboard and another with a wider variety of voices. I opted for this model based on what I needed to learn with and I don't need a large variety of voices this has plenty of choices for me

 Realize for a beginner this is really good however once you get to a professional level you will probably look to upgrade as it is mostly hard plastic but not flimsy. I do think for the price and quality it is excellent. I love mine. I did also purchase a sustain peddle, stand, headphones and cloth cover

. Good tonal quality however don't expect to blow out the walls with the speaker volume but it is loud enough for practicing. I don't expect to use it in a professional situation but can if I want by running the output through an amp. Be sure to read the literature on it's features they all work as advertised

 The weighted keys do have some adjustments so you can lighten them or increase the key action. I am very happy with mine the only thing I don't like so far is the max speaker volume but it is good enough. Realize for a beginner this is really good however once you get to a professional level you will probably look to upgrade as it is mostly hard plastic but not flimsy. I do think for the price and quality it is excellent

As a beginner that currently plays on a high end digital piano, I will say that I prefer the sound of my Kawai CA99 over that of the mediocre acoustics that I've played on.  

  You can get lucky with sites like Facebook market or Craigslist, but a lot of time what's available is junk.  That piano that 'just needs a tuning'?  It may very well have been sitting in a garage experiencing wide swings in humidity for the last decade, and it's probably not worth repairing.  At least when buying used from a dealer, you can be a lot more confident in what you're getting, though you're probably not going to find anything ridiculously underpriced, either.  You can potentially get a pretty decent used upright

Soon I am going to be having a lot of free time on my hands, so I want to pursue a lifelong dream I always had but never followed, to learn how to play the piano.

I will probably get at least a few lessons from the local music store, but I know the value of practicing at home in my own time, so I need to get an instrument as I currently don’t have one and never have. 

Emotionally, I would like to have a traditional piano for sound and esthetic reasons, but would really appreciate advice. I only want to do this once if possible. 

All in budget including purchase, delivery, repairs, and tuning is $2,500. I’ve looked on Craigslist and could easily get any number of uprights for free and put most of the money into professional repairs and tuning. If I spend some time looking I could get a baby grand for $1-2k but that would leave me less for repairs and tuning, but may be willing to stretch the budget if I knew a good starting place like recommended brands and maximum age. With no knowledge at all about this, if I’m determined to get a piano should I instead look to buy from a reconditioner like worldclasspianos.com?

Just starting out in my 40s, where to begin

Kawai wooden key actions have a good reputation. The Kawai CA49, CA59, CA79 and CA99 pianos and VPC-1 MIDI controller are worth a close look.

This pianist records with a computer and a VPC-1. Notice the grand piano sitting beside him. I'm guessing that mic'ing an acoustic piano is difficult -- so he records with a computer. I'll also guess he chose the VPC-1 for its touch
