Review: My Miele C3 Calima

**Miele**. We’ve got the Complete C3, and it’s amazing for our two cats, rugs, and hardwoods. (To be clear: we do not vacuum the cats, just their shedded fur.)

We are moving to a new house soon and are looking for a decent vacuum, but would also like to be able to clean our current one before we move! Our last vacuum was a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Lift Off. It had great suction, but we have long hair and 2 cats, and the hair was always tangled in the brush roll and the brush roll burned out frequently. It was more of a PITA to clean the vacuum.

Our current apartment is mostly carpet, with a kitchen and bathroom that has tile. 800ish square feet. 

Our new house: 1400ish square feet. Unfinished basement, hardwood floors in the living room and on the stairs, tile in the 2 bathrooms and kitchen, carpeted in the upstairs hallway and in both bedrooms.

We don't have a budget. Preferably looking for something with a hose attachment, if possible, something not too bulky - our last one was so clunky, but since we will have a bigger place bulkiness won't be a huge issue; that can clean hardwood floors, tile, carpet, stairs, and can handle long hair and pet hair.

Recommendations for a good vacuum for carpeted and hardwood floor for people with long hair and cats?

For majority carpets I recommend a vacuum with a powered brushroll, manual height adjustment, and brushroll shutoff (for when you're using the hose and tools). The Miele C3 Calima is not good for a majority carpeted house.

My family suffers from allergy. We only have low pile carpet in the house already.

Should I still buy high pile carpet vacuum if I want maximum cleaning? Other than higher price, is high pile carpet vacuum strictly better / more powerful, or is there some kind of tradeoff?

To be more concrete, I'm debating between the Miele C3 Calima (designed for low pile) vs the other Miele C3 models.

Is high pile carpet vacuum strictly better than low pile carpet vacuum?

 The cord length is 24 feet so that gives you about a 33-foot cleaning radius. That's a pretty nice clean radius that you have there. The bags that this one will take are the GN bags and they have a blue clip on them. so examples right here

One of the Hepa filters arrived warped and wouldn't be able to seal. I left a message to seller 6 days ago and haven't heard back. Just left another and Amazon's automated response said to give the seller 6 more days. Unreasonable

 I love how easy it is to change out attachments and the hard floor attachment maneuvers better than any I've ever used.

Assuming you're in the U.S., there isn't really much shopping around that can be done with the Complete C3. Miele's cheaper models (Classic C1 & Compact C1) that're available at stores like BB&B get occasional discounts, but Miele seems pretty strict about enforcing a consistent MSRP online for the high end vacuums

Is one better than the other?   When looking around the web it looks like I can get the Miele C3 with power head for about the same price as the E3.   Miele's seem to be sold at many places where Sebo's I can only get at a dealer.  I like that the E3 canister is smaller and the bags and filters are cheaper.  I also don't think the extra filtration that the Miele provides is very compelling to me.  I am leaning towards an E3 but it bothers me that I can't shop around and get a bit of a discount.  

Any advice?
