While the patterns were cute, my 9 year old struggled to make the normal outlines-definitely would not be able to do a 3D one without some adult help and maybe the available app. She wasted a lot of materials changing colors - you have to let all the old color flow through to get the new one so not super easy to go back and forth between colors. Not bad overall, just not as fun as they thought it would be based on the projects shown on the box

 My 5 year old struggled, but enjoyed it with guidance. the catch: You must use their special filaments and they are outrageously expensive! Their website shows huge projects or projects (a large bridge and a vehicle small enough to fit in your hand) that require several of their proprietary sticks. We’re talking $.25 a stick that lasts maybe 5 minutes! However if you are concerned about your kid burning themselves and have lots of extra $$$ for the special filament, this pen is a great idea

 I contacted the company who was immediately responsive and sent us a replacement. We sent the pen back to them where they determined what the issue was so they could help us prevent it from happening in the future. The tip they provided was a critical piece of information- which leads to the next comment- I wish there was more in terms of direction and tips in the book that came with the tool. The documentation could be bulked up for troubleshooting help

Great for kids

I got this as a gift for my 8-year-old crafty niece and she really loved it. It came with the pen, a mat, an instruction book with some templates and some filament. I also bought her a large pack of replacement filament, but it didn't work with this pen. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it doesn't work with the non-brand name filament and because each time she used it, it ran out of battery

Best gift ever!  (but the battery life isn't very long)

 It’s clearly satisfying something inside of her, and I love that it’s in the form of art and engineering. You’re not going to get high quality prints but that’s not really the point. Also, this doesn’t have anywhere that will burn the kids. You could print the plastic straight onto your hand and be fine, so I can let the kids play with it without me watching over them and there have been no complaints of heat

If you first find 3d printer, this is if you're in the market and you're the first 3d print that you're gonna get or just in general you look at this model. This is as closest of an honest review to a person that's not a professional but is experienced with this for at least a month

LED have made the surprising that welcome Moved to import Capricorn Teflon tube something a lot of people previously upgraded to Now I might add something subjective and it's how handsome this printer looks. compared to the previous CR Tens where there control boxes to the sides and wiring everywhere, this all-in-one design looks a lot more sophisticated I particularly like the red anodized aluminium pieces all around the machine. Not to say it's perfect

 even if Cree ality don't big tick to the power supply for using a branded and certified Meanwell version, it's probably once again worth mentioning the appearance. I Still think this thing looks pretty slick and I should also mention how quiet the stepper motor drivers are because not only does it produce very smooth movement, but they're quiet quiet as well. But what's all that noise then? well, like I've said, several steps forward. one step back
