Cuisinart and Braun Pro Custom 11 Cup DLC-8SY and 4259 Food Processors

Still In Use

Owned for 0.1 years, used Weekly

Stress Points
Cuisinart does not have the features of the newest models- dicing, adjustable slicing, mini bowl. Braun came with everything but performed mediocre.
Positive Remarks
I wanted to post a review of this product mainly as a comparison to my Braun 4259 purchased 25 years ago. It came with everything- 5 disks, a whip, dough blade, etc. but... I really used it for chopping, mixing shredding and grating-sometimes slicing. It was a poor slicer. I never used the julienne disc or the fine grate disc or the whip- in 25 years. This Cuisinart model is really good because it focuses on making prep easier with fewer pieces and crosses the boundary of big bowl, little bowl with its included second flat lid- quick easy chopping without chute and pusher to clean like a small chopper but also has the multi-sized chute on the other top for big jobs- all dishwasher safe. The base is HEAVY and I like that quality. My Braun was light and had 400ish watts- not enough and would bog down easily with doughs or even cutting meat, etc. You need power. The single speed and large detente buttons are a boon to me who was used to more speeds and a knob to flip back and forth to pulse. The Pro Custom 14 is the cousin to this one. It is about the same price now but does not come with the extra discs or the flat lid yet wins out on many rating/reviews. The liquid capacity on this one is 2-3/4 C and 3 Cups on the Custom 14. Unless you regularly prepare for larger groups the 11 cup, in my opinion is enough. What makes it a good one is that it performs core functions well. Ratings videos online have the brands with low watt motors stalling out and even smoking. Note to how many newer ones are going down in wattage and have lower price points. Can someone say buy one, buy often? This one I understand is being discontinued so get it while you can.
