 You know, the one line like that so it'd be a little bit more wobbly and difficult. And then each player is going to get a hand of these cards here and you get a hand a five Cards you can see they also have these line shapes like so and they also have these little special abilities. You can see the icons for those in the corner and these are a little bit more sturdy of a card. You want to be somewhat gentle with these I wouldn't riffle shuffle these too much, but I have, but you know over time the spine the card might degrade a little bit and definitely don't sleeve them because they'll be super slick

So everybody's gonna have a hand of five cards and then on your turn you're going to play one of the cards. so you'll take and play this on top of the building and then you're going to have to play of these walls in that formation

 So we'll go ahead and put these on like so you just try to get it as best you can and line it up generally with that and then the next player will play their cards. So maybe we'll play this card like so and then you're also going to also do this special ability. So let me just set these out here. see if I can do this without knocking it over

Rhino Hero Review

A really fun kids' game that I always recommend. Great components given this is essentially a mass market game from Mattel. Roll dice to move through a haunted house to retrieve the treasure inside, but watch out for the ghosts which left unchecked will quickly spiral out of control. Great for young and older kids due to scalable complexity, and genuine tension as the game nears the end

For background, my collection is a mix of heavier soloable games and lighter family/kids games, as I rarely have any other adults to play multiplayer games with. Enjoy!

The first 'proper' board game I bought, and still a solid co-op brain burner. Tricky enough to be a challenge but not punishingly so, and good value. 7/10

 So I think this is definitely worth it I Think I Picked this up for 1295 retail at my local game store and it's absolutely worth it because I can play it with kids I Can play it with adults and have an equal amount of fun with it. so I highly recommend this one. Started them on Orchard Toys games at the age of 3 - good quality low cost games, mostly memory games for toddlers, but teach basics nicely; also, mostly made in UK so better for environment. 

You've heard it before. You see it regularly in comments popping up in discussions here.

So, as a discussion starter, here are my own experiences with this phenomenon, as a regular gamer and father of three. Kids are a time sink. Sure, there's no way round it. This is a whole other human being who is helpless and needs full-on care and support. Some of them have medical challenges that complicate everything.

Let's break it down by age:

1. Newborn! Parents are exhausted. Forget about gaming, it's unlikely to happen - but allow it as an option, because everybody needs an escape. "A change is good as a rest". Sometimes it's nice to get out of the house and do something that *isn't* baby-related.
2. 6-12 months: still very demanding, but you can now get out for a few hours here and there. Meet a friend for coffee and a quick game of **Hive** or **Hanamikoji**.
3. 12 months - 3 years: the kids are loud, disruptive, and annoying. You can only play games after they go to bed, or if one parent is able to sneak out of the house for an evening. Do both parents like to game? Host a game. Get some friends who can keep the noise reduced, and both parents can join when the kids are asleep. Alternatively, split the duties - one of you does childcare, the other goes out for games/exercise/pub/whatever. Swap round regularly and fairly.
4. 3-5 years: this is a great time to get them started! We play a lot of dexterity games (**Jenga**, **Twister**, **Rhino Hero**, etc) but also memory games (**Ghost Tower**, **Monster Chase**) and many of the fun Drei Magier Spiele games (**Spooky Stairs, The Enchanted Tower, The Endless River, The Magic Labyrinth**, etc). Start to introduce games with higher complexity, such as **Ticket To Ride** and **Carcassonne**).
5. 6+ is where it gets fun. Depending on the child, how they adapt to the different games, and how well they learn, you can introduce any game you like. Between the ages of 7-10 I had introduced my oldest to all of the games listed above, and also to **Lift Off!, Skulk Hollow, Raptor, Flash Point, Pandemic, Santorini, Tsuro, Escape The Dark Sector, Nuked,** and **Mr Jack Pocket**. Earlier this year, when he had turned 11, we got and enjoyed a copy of **Oceans**.

Beyond this, and you've got a built-in gaming group (my oldest occasionally joins with my friends when we host a game night, or plays with my wife and myself after the younger kids are asleep). We still spend the rest of the time alternating free evenings vs childcare duties, so everybody gets a chance to do what they want.

Are kids a big change? Sure. Will there be nights when you want to do something but are too utterly exhausted to even bother? Yes! Do they impact your ability to spend entire weekends doing Gloomhaven or Twilight Struggle or sprawling WH40K armies? Very likely. But *do they mean you have to give up gaming or meeting your friends*? Absolutely not.

Edit 3: just to be clear, unless the kids are old enough to take responsibility for themselves, I&#39;m not attempting to advocate for &quot;abandon your kids while you go out to play&quot;, &quot;take your kids unannounced to a game night&quot;, &quot;take your entire family elsewhere for a couple of hours of boardgaming&quot;, or anything else. Obviously situations will vary, but the core of my point that I stated clearly above was that the parents - individually, together as hosts after bedtime, or together out when babysitters are available - can still play heavier games with friends. Some people seem to have lost sight of the fact that parents are individuals and can still pursue their own hobbies individually, so long as they split the childcare fairly, or find other help.

"Kids ruined everything and now I can't play anymore" - strategies for coping

 so what have I reached out one of those to cover it I Was super excited. The premise of the game is basically building a house of cards. You've got all these cards that are folded in half and there's a nice little like perforation in them so it's not hard to bend them. You're not really gonna mess it up and you're using these cards

 - I Play this game with my kids a lot. Uh, my oldest is three so we don't do I mean honestly with him, we just kind of stack these up and build cards. We just have fun with it. We don't really play the rules at all, but I mean at his age I don't do a lot of rules anyway because I'm much more interested in him just having fun playing games and getting into it so that when he's a little bit older and he can strategize, he is all about playing games with dad

 they're falling over. But honestly, like the roof cards are really thick card stock which is nice because you can't sleeve them or anything. Um, but they're They're a nice weight. They're really thick

 We just have fun with it. We don't really play the rules at all, but I mean at his age I don't do a lot of rules anyway because I'm much more interested in him just having fun playing games and getting into it so that when he's a little bit older and he can strategize, he is all about playing games with dad.  So here you put two walls. You then will play a card from your hand on top of those walls and the card shows you how the next walls are going to be placed for the next player. So the next player would have to put their cards like that and then they would put a four on top of that and you go one like this. This one you can see the walls are like this and then this one has only one wall on it getting a little high here

 The only game I know that you're allowed to bend the cards. there's there's a few others but yeah you get to bend the cards in this game. But this game works really well and I was really impressed with the amount of game that's packed in this small box. I like this one quite a bit

I love how when you're stacking these cards, how they have every card is different and they have different windows on the outside and on the inside. so on the inside you see different things and on the outside and that makes the whole thing look really cool
