NOBO you definitely suffer a lot more in the snow, whereas the only notable snow I had was one day up and down Piegan Pass in Glacier. I carried Kahtoola microspikes and a short CAMP corsa ice axe and used them but could've gotten by without them.

I got some Kahtoola microspikes a few winters ago that worked surprisingly well and make walking snow packed icy trail a lot safer. Not sure if it was the best thing ever, but an unexpectedly good piece of gear.

The Microspikes I replaced them with are several years old at this point, and still no signs of early failure. Mindblowing that companies that are so dominant in their market segment as *Kahtoola* would still be trying to cash in with the bait-n-switch… Especially when your segment is *winter mountain safety gear*…. Edit: to clarify, I don’t doubt that kahtoola is cutting corners.

The reputation of this product precedes it and it's quite obvious that it rules the market and I bought these for doing more 14'ers in Colorado.
