So we buy the Dewalt but run back to where we trashed the other one, fish it out, and take it in for exchange. Now the manager tries to give us the run around, part numbers not matching - it's been two decades, I'm sure it's just been superceded, and my prior experience with their warranty is if that's the case they give you a near-equivalent - "what's wrong with it, how'd you break it"... But after some more hedging we eventually walk out with the replacement.

It is right up there along with other Dewalt products, quality, feels solid. The rubber seal where it makes contact can be a bit softer, perhaps bigger. In the end, it does the job for a regular homeowner and I haven’t looked back. A few months later I ended up getting a Dewalt battery operated hedge trimmer, which beats my old set up of stringing together 100’ of extension cord for the old one. The new one is so easy to use, I use it more often to trim the hedges, which actually makes for easier work and a nicer yard.

I've had really good luck with makita, Dewalt, and porter cable lithium knock off batteries from Amazon. If anyone has ever been leary, get the ones with the best reviews of course. Get higher amp/h at 1/4 of the price.
