What Did You Play This Week? - (September 20, 2021)
Next up, we played Hanabi. We have a red-green colorblind member in our group who hadn't been able to play this with us before, but we picked up the deluxe version with much clearer and differentiable symbols which allowed him to tell the difference between the colors. I opted to include the rainbow tiles that were included as well to decrease the difficulty and provide variety, using them not as the rulebook suggested, but instead as wilds that could be used in place of any other color. This worked well for us, getting us tantalizingly close to a full 25 points... but I find that if our goal is maxing the number of points, we need to give clues about the locations of the 5-firework pieces sooner rather than later so a player doesn't randomly discard them... there is only the one copy of each after all.
