I'm an avid Dyson fan, owning many versions of their upright vacuums and cordless ones. Buying a replacement battery is very inexpensive and easy. Mine went after about 3-4 years of pretty heavy use (we have pets). I paid $35 for it on Amazon, and it was 3 or 4 screws to take the old one out and replace with the new one. No issues since then.
